Meet Marylin Newell

Hello.  My name is Marylin Newell.  I am a women's event speaker, Christian counselor and life coach. My passion is seeing women of faith learn to live in the fruit of the Spirit (love, joy, peace, patience, goodness, kindness, gentleness, faithfulness, and self-control).  Whether I am working with a group of women or individuals, my prayer is that God will work through me by His Holy Spirit to transform you into the woman He created you to be.  Transformation happens when we open our hearts and minds to see things differently than we have seen them in the past.  In Romans 12: 1-2, we read that we are called not to conform to the world, but to be transformed by the renewing of our minds.  That is my focus--helping women look at life from a different perspective.  The most frequent reaction I hear from my clients is, "I never thought of it like that before!"  And when I hear that, I know that God has opened up their hearts to receive more from Him than they have ever imagined.

My ministry to others is based on my life verse:

My purpose is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.” (Colossians 2:2)

I came to faith in 1980-October 8th to be exact-and my whole outlook on life changed in a flash. Since then, God has worked in ways that I could not have imagined to teach me  how to live my life to honor Him.  Don't misunderstand. I don't always get it right, but like the apostle Paul I can say, "this one thing I do: putting behind me those things which are past, I press forward toward the mark which is the high calling in Christ Jesus" (Philippians 3:13).

Although I believe my strongest credentials for my ministry of teaching and counseling come from God's gifting in my life, God has also prepared me academically.  In 1995 I earned a Masters Degree in Adult Education with a concentration in counseling from the University of Southern Maine and am a Registered Counselor with the State of Maine Board of Counseling Professionals. I am a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors (AACC).  I am certified in Continuous Improvement Career Coaching through the University of New Hampshire’s Division of Professional Studies and also have a PhD in Organization and Management which is useful when I am coaching business clients or consulting to college administrators (which is my main vocational pursuit).

I live in Maine with my husband of 26 years, am the mother of two adult children and grandmother to five.
